McCain picked Palin.
Might die in office.
Quote: The GOP ticket’s appalling contempt for science and learning. - By Christopher Hitchens - Slate MagazineTuesday, October 28th, 2008
This is what the Republican Party has done to us this year: It has placed within reach of the Oval Office a woman who is a religious fanatic and a proud, boastful ignoramus. Those who despise science and learning are not anti-elitist. They are morally and intellectually slothful people who are secretly envious of the educated and the cultured. And those who prate of spiritual warfare and demons are not just “people of faith” but theocratic bullies. On Nov. 4, anyone who cares for the Constitution has a clear duty to repudiate this wickedness and stupidity.
I do not know whether the person who finally decodes western Pennsylvania will become president. I’m pretty sure that whoever does it will be able to run the country.
Christopher Hitchens - Vote Obama. McCain lacks the character and temperament to be president. And Palin is simply a disgrace. - Slate MagazineTuesday, October 14th, 2008
I wrote not long ago that it was not right to condescend to [Sarah Palin] just because of her provincial roots or her piety, let alone her slight flirtatiousness, but really her conduct since then has been a national disgrace. It turns out that none of her early claims to political courage was founded in fact, and it further turns out that some of the untested rumors about her—her vindictiveness in local quarrels, her bizarre religious and political affiliations—were very well-founded, indeed.
It’s funny that
